The Spirit Within You
Is Already Enough
"When Christ lives within you… the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God." Romans 8:10 NLT
This week's gathering was not planned in the usual sense — and that, in itself, was the message. When we stop trying to control the atmosphere and allow the Spirit of God to lead, something holy begins to happen. What followed was over an hour of intercession, transparency, and encounter. Our passage for the year remains Romans 8 — a continual reminder that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives within us. The Holy Spirit — the Ruach HaKodesh — is not a distant presence. He is the most present, and yet the most overlooked. This week, we chose to acknowledge Him. As you read, let this be more than a recap. Let it be a re-invitation into prayer. These five prayer points arose from what the Spirit was speaking — and we believe they carry the same weight this week as they did in that room. "You are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you… and remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all." This session was also shaped by a powerful reflection from Numbers 11 — the story of the Israelites in the wilderness. Three patterns emerged that the Spirit is calling us to name, own, and pray through: Murmuring. The Israelites complained about their suffering in the wilderness. God was constraining them — purifying, refining, restricting — and instead of recognising His hand, they murmured. This pattern delayed their destiny by 40 years. If God has you in a quiet, constrained, uncomfortable season: it is not punishment. It is preparation. Lustful Appetite. God gave them quail — and named the place "Kibroth-hattaavah," meaning graves of gluttony. They gorged themselves to death. Some of us have satisfied our flesh so completely that when God asks us to fast, to let go, to surrender certain things — we do not know how to recognise His work as goodness. God is not withholding to harm you. He is withholding to preserve you. Conformity. The Israelites kept longing for Egypt. God is calling us to be a peculiar people — misfits by the world's standard. In God's kingdom, that is not a flaw. That is a commission. You are not supposed to look the same this time next year. Jesus called the Holy Spirit a Helper and a Comforter — and He is the most overlooked presence in our daily lives. This week, we are intentionally choosing to include Him: in our planning, our conversations, our decisions, and our moments of uncertainty. Not as an afterthought, but as the first voice we consult. "Holy Spirit, I include You in every decision I make this week. Help my mind to be fixed on You. I do not want to move as an orphan. I want to move as a daughter who knows her Father. If Your presence does not go before me, I am not moving." God may have you in a season of constraint — and it is for your sanctification, not your suffering. When our flesh is uncomfortable, the temptation to murmur is real. But murmuring kept a generation wandering for 40 years. We are choosing to call this season holy. We are choosing to receive the manna even when we want the meat. "Father, I repent for every moment I have complained about the season You have me in. I receive Your refining. I receive the manna. Help me to trust that what You are doing in the wilderness is for my good — and I will not let impatience cost me my promise." Like the sons of Issachar who understood the times and seasons, we are praying for the capacity to see beyond the immediate — beyond what our eyes can measure. God is building something this year. The things He has stripped away are not losses. They are preparations. We are asking Him: What are You doing in this hour? "God, expand my vision beyond what I can see in front of me. Like Moses, who walked with 600,000 people into the unknown, give me the courage and clarity to carry the assignment You have placed within me. Show me the bigger picture. Let me not be paralysed by the peripheral." There are words spoken over us — by well-meaning people, by culture, by fear — that have created confusion about our calling. Some of us have been told to conform, to follow, to shrink. This week we are declaring that every misdirection, every assignment sent against the vision God has placed in you — must fall to the ground. "Every word spoken to cause confusion about my direction — I cancel it in Jesus' name. Every voice that told me to conform when God said go differently — I silence it now. God, I thank You that I am not wrong for being different. I am called to be peculiar. I stand on what You have said." Moses cried out to God about the weight of leading alone — and God said: bring the elders, and My Spirit will rest upon them too. This season is not one to carry alone. There are prayers that can only be broken through in community. There is help already in front of us — and our assignment this week is to learn to receive it. "Father, teach me to receive the help You have already placed in front of me. Forgive me for the times I have walked alone when You provided community. I break every spirit of isolation and pride. I am ready to pray with, carry with, and build with my sisters. We are not going into this season alone." This is a season to come up higher. Revelation 4:1 — "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place." John came up higher, and God showed him what was to come. You are in that moment. Stop drinking milk. It is time to eat meat. You are not almost. You are not going to nearly execute. You are in the season of completion — of finishing what God began in you. The prayers you have prayed here are not lost. You will see their manifestation. Some of you will testify this week. Watch for it.
